CBH constitute the largest group of economic and business historians in Norway, at present employing about 10 researchers fulltime. The main part of the research is financed by companies, organisations and government agencies as well as the Research Council of Norway. CBH's employees are responsible for arranging courses at all levels at BI, from undergraduate to Ph.D. seminars. In addition, a considerable amount of information is disseminated through lectures and articles, both in professional and other fora.
Centre for Business History was established at BI in 1989. It continued the activities of an independent research centre founded by Even Lange in 1979. Today, the director of CBH is Professor Espen Ekberg.
